Linear alkylbenzene sulfonate was determined usually by methylene blue active substances method (MBAS) in water at a-band of the dye. A metachromatic method is proposed for the determination of anion active substances using various dyes as methylene blue, azur I, Nile blue and toluidine blue at α- and β- bands. Similar results were obtained with MBAS and metachromatic method. Thus the proposed metachromatic method can be used as well as MBAS method.
